Shared Review Room
Discuss one fixed reference with shared pinned comments in an expiring private room.

How it works
Create an expiring room for text or a small PNG/JPEG reference, invite participants, resolve pinned comments and export the discussion. The owner can revoke the room.
- Rooms retain one fixed text or PNG/JPEG reference, up to 200 comments and 100 participant identities for 1–24 hours. Anyone with the room access link can join and comment.
- A private participant key controls editing or resolving your own comments. The owner key additionally allows moderation and revocation. Display names are not verified identities.
- Participant and owner keys are separate from the invitation. Keys are stored as hashes. Expiry is enforced on every operation; pointer positions expire after 45 seconds.
- A repeated comment request with the same non-empty idempotency key does not append a second comment. This is review of a fixed reference, not simultaneous project editing.

How to use the Shared Review Room
Open an expiring private room for one text or image reference, invite reviewers by link, collect pinned comments, resolve them and export the discussion.
What it is for
You want quick feedback on a flyer, a screenshot or a paragraph of copy, but you don't want to set up a project tool, create accounts or send an email with ten attachments. This tool creates a short-lived room around one fixed reference: a text or a small PNG or JPEG image up to 250 KB. Everyone with the invitation link can join under a display name, pin comments to a spot on the image and see who is looking where. The owner can resolve comments, moderate and close the room early. After 1 to 24 hours the room expires.
It is review of a fixed reference, not shared editing: nobody can change the reference after the room is created. Display names are not verified, so anyone with the link can call themselves anything.
Worked example
Mara creates a room with the Room title "Flyer v3 review", the reference text "Spring fair flyer, version 3: headline, date line, map, sponsor strip.", Room lifetime 2 hours and her display name. The room opens with "0 open comments" and an expiry time two hours ahead.
She copies the participant link and sends it to Jonas. He joins and pins the comment "Date line is too small on A5." at Pin X 30 % and Pin Y 20 %. The room now shows 1 open comment. When Jonas's browser sends the same comment twice over a flaky connection, the room still has 1 comment, because the repeat carries the same idempotency key.
Mara resolves the comment and the count returns to 0 open. An attempt to edit Jonas's comment with someone else's key is refused: "Only the comment author or room owner can change this comment." When the review is over, Mara chooses Revoke room; the result says "Room revoked." and any later request gets "Room is missing or expired."
How to read the result
- The header line shows title, number of open comments and expiry time.
- Below it is the reference. Click the image to place a pin; X and Y are percentages of its width and height, so pins stay in place on any screen size.
- The participant list shows who is present. Pointer positions disappear after 45 seconds without an update.
- Show resolved comments brings back closed threads, Export discussion saves all comments, and Private room backup stores your own keys so you can return to the room on another device.
Tips and common mistakes
- Share only the participant link. Your owner key is separate and should stay with you; with it, others could resolve, delete or revoke.
- Keep Private room backup if you may close the browser. Without your private participant key you can still read and comment as a new participant, but you cannot edit your earlier comments.
- Choose a lifetime that matches the review, from 1 to 24 hours.
- Compress screenshots before uploading; the image limit is 250 KB.
- Rooms hold up to 200 comments and 100 participants. For larger reviews, split the reference into several rooms.
FAQ
Can a participant delete other people's comments?
No. Authors can edit, resolve or delete their own comments. The owner can moderate all of them and revoke the room.
What happens when the room expires?
Every operation checks the expiry time. After expiry the room can no longer be read or changed, so export the discussion before then.
Is the reference stored on the server?
Yes, for the room's lifetime, because all participants must see the same reference. Keys are stored only as hashes.
Can I upload a PDF?
No, only text or a PNG or JPEG image. Export a PDF page as an image first.
